Chose a plus flat

with service and safety

VERY SATISFIED - Åshild and Bjarne are happy that their dream of living in Spain has become a reality and they look forward to living the good life from their sunny balcony.

Åshild and Bjarne Heggset are two people who have found the recipe for the good life in Spain and at Alfaz del Sol. After renting a Plus Flat here on a few occasions, they now have chosen to buy a flat of their very own.

We really like the area, so last autumn we started looking at homes that were for sale. We ended up buying a Plus Flat because we were familiar with the concept and also because of the safety and service that come with the place, Bjarne explains.

For Åshild and himself, it was an added security that their home comes with a security system  and that the apartment complex is located in a fenced-in area. One of the biggest factors when it comes to enjoying life here is the role that the hosts play at Alfaz del Sol.

The hosts are fantastic. They help us with the little things and the big stuff too, and they give us suggestions on everything from where to take a walk to which restaurants we should try. This makes it easier for us to get better acquainted with both our surroundings and our neighbours, says Bjarne.

Realizing the dream

Liv realized her dream.

Liv Storeide always dreamed of moving to Spain after

she retired. In 2006, she fulfilled her dream and bought

a flat at the Norwegian Alfaz del Sol.

Ten years have passed since the Oslo woman took the big step and moved to Spain, which she has never regretted. She had many reasons for choosing to buy a flat at Alfaz del Sol in Costa Blanca.

- The facility is spectacular, with beautiful gardens that are looked after by a gardener, and we have a big swimming pool that is heated all winter long, the energetic pensioner explains. Every morning I get out my knitting and drink coffee while I relax and watch some breakfast TV. There are also guards here year-round. Even though I live alone, I still feel very safe.

The major advantage according to Storeide, however, is the service centre where she gets help with most things. The reception has two great hosts who help with all sorts of practical things like booking workmen, translating letters and ordering plane tickets. They also organise comfy nights in and outings. They do everything to make sure we live in comfort.

Storeide can say that she has travelled a bit in Spain, but that nothing compares to living in Alfaz del Pi. - There are several doctors and dentists here. With travel insurance or Spanish health insurance, we have nice private hospitals with interpreters. We also have a supermarket with all the products and grocery you could need. I also love this region because of its incredibly beautiful nature with high mountains, crystal-blue waters, spectacular beaches and lots of sun and warm weather all year round.

Storeide never gets bored and has made many new friends. - It's very easy to get to know people here and there's a long list of activities you can get involved in too. The Norwegian Club in Alfaz has a choir, knitting café, bridge, Spanish class, historical society, philosophy group, art group and photography group. The Club also has its own food and wine club and it organises bus trips around Spain with visits to bodegas twice a year. We also have the Norwegian Seamen's Church in Albir which offers many nice activities. I probably have a better social life here as a pensioner than I would have had in Norway.

Even though I don't drive, I have no problem getting around.

- Busses run every 15 minutes from the cultural centre in Alfaz del Pi to Albir, Altea and Benidorm. And it's very cheap to take a taxi. If I go to Norway, the flight is short and relatively reasonably priced which makes it easy for me to visit my family and friends several times a year, Storeide concludes.

For the whole family

The family friendlyAlfaz del Sol.

When Roy Stian Gunnulfsen's in-laws wanted to buy an

apartment in Spain, the intended that the whole family

could get the opportunity to spend part of the year in

warmer climate. An apartment in the Norwegian resort

Alfaz del Sol, located just 45 minutes from the airport in

Alicante, proved to be the best solution for all parties.

When the family arrived in Costa Blanca North to look at homes, they contacted a property agent who showed them several flat options in the area.

- My in-laws were looking for a flat that they could stay in during autumn, spring and winter, and one that we could all use in the summer, says Gunnulfsen. We

thought that the Alfaz del Sol concept was right up our alley because my in-laws would get to see people their own age who live there during the winter.

He adds: - We don't speak the local language, so it was a major advantage that there was a service centre and receptionthere that gives you help with whatever you need, and they also organise many activities for the residents. The reception handles anything technical we might need at the flat, like plumbers, electricians or cleaning. They can also take care of all sorts of tickets for you. For example, tickets to a show in Benidorm or a football match in Valencia. They also help with hiring cars, grocery shopping and more. The hosts at Alfaz del Sol provide very good service.

The flat was also right up our alley and exactly what they were looking for. - Having heated floors is a Norwegian standard. The flat faces a favourable direction for watching the evening sun, it has a nice view and a large terrace. It's easy to move around inside and accommodates walkers and wheelchairs of all sizes. The place is locked and guarded, which we feel are very safe.

The whole family loves living in Costa Blanca North, an area that has many different activities to offer. - Alfaz del Pi is a friendly little town, while Albir and Altea make for great day trips. We go on trips to the Benissa and Guadalest mountains, ride around in the water on jet skis and boats and soak up the sun on the beaches in Villajoyosa and Calpe.

We also have plenty of opportunities to play golf. There are also many nice restaurants where we have great meals. And there are many activities for children like go-karting, golfing and visiting the water park and the zoo. We always hire a car, so getting around is easy, Gunnulfsen concludes.
